The Checklist for Launching Your Site on Squarespace
So you’ve designed your website! You fine-tuned the copy, swapped the stock photos, and maybe even wrestled with a few layout tweaks. You’re almost ready to launch.
But before you hit publish, let’s make sure your site is not just finished, but truly ready to welcome visitors, reflect your purpose, and support your work.
Here’s a simple, no-fluff checklist to help you launch with calm confidence.
Check your navigation flow
Does each link go somewhere intentional? Are the most important pages easy to find?
Think about your audience: what are they here to do? Make sure your navigation helps them get there with as little friction as possible.
Update your page titles and browser previews
Squarespace auto-generates these, but they’re worth customizing. Page titles and descriptions are what show up in search engines (and when you share your site on social), so make them clear and welcoming.
Tip: keep it simple. “About [Your Name] | [Your Company Name]” is better than “Untitled Page.”
Swap out all placeholder text and images
Even one leftover “Lorem ipsum” can make your site feel unfinished. Make sure every image, heading, and call to action feels like you.
Don’t forget footer text, blog sidebars, and form labels since they’re easy to miss.
Test your forms
Submit your contact form and newsletter opt-in yourself to your own email. Make sure the messages are going to the right inbox, and that your thank-you message or confirmation feels friendly and clear.
Proofread everything (especially your buttons)
Read your site out loud, or better yet, ask a friend to click through it! Typos can sneak in anywhere, and buttons are one of the first things people see.
If you're linking to external platforms like Calendly, make sure those links are live and accurate.
Set up basic SEO
Squarespace makes it easy to add SEO descriptions for your site and each page. You don’t need to be an expert—just write a short sentence or two that describes what the page is and who it’s for.
Bonus: add alt text to your images to improve accessibility and search visibility.
Preview your site on mobile
Most visitors will check your site from their phone. Click through every page on your phone screen to make sure text isn’t cut off, images look good, and buttons are easy to tap.
Connect your domain and social links
If you're using a custom domain, double-check that it’s properly connected. Also, test every social icon as nothing breaks the magic like clicking a dead Instagram link.
Add your favicon
That’s the tiny icon in the browser tab, it’s a small detail that helps your site feel finished and professional. You can upload it under Design → Browser Icon in your Squarespace settings.
Take a breath (and then hit publish!)
Your site doesn’t need to be perfect to be ready. It just needs to be honest, helpful, and live.
Celebrate what you’ve built. Then share it, slowly and steadily, with the people who need it.
